Ravi Kishan to Headline New Devotional Drama by Mahaveer Jain Films
Actor Ravi Kishan has signed on to headline a new, yet-untitled Hindi devotional drama, marking a rare turn as a solo lead in a major project. The film, which is being presented by Mahaveer Jain Films, is scheduled to begin production in January 2027. This project follows a successful period for Kishan, who recently appeared in Mirzapur The Movie and earned critical acclaim for his performance in the 2024 film Laapataa Ladies.
The upcoming feature serves as the second collaboration between the actor and Mahaveer Jain Films following Naagzilla. Furthermore, Kishan's recent portfolio includes appearances in projects such as Maamla Legal Hai alongside Mirzapur The Movie and Laapataa Ladies.
A Contemporary Approach to Faith
The film is written and directed by Amit Aarryan and is described as a contemporary spiritual story rather than a traditional devotional drama. According to reports, the narrative centers on a protagonist who views God not as a distant supreme figure, but as a close, personal friend. The production team aims to blend this spiritual core with humor, strong emotions, and drama to create a wholesome, family-friendly entertainer.
According to Bollywood Hungama, the narrative structure compares closely to modern spiritual dramedies like OMG – Oh My God!, reframing the protagonist's relationship with the divine around personal friendship, banter, and emotional trust rather than rigid religious rituals.
Production and Collaboration
This project marks the second collaboration between Ravi Kishan and Mahaveer Jain Films, following their previous work on Naagzilla. The film is being produced by a team including Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, Vinayak Kumar, Kavin Shah, and Shikha K Ahluwalia of Mahaveer Jain Films, alongside Vijay Subramaniam and Kshitij Mehta of RatPack Stories. According to Bollywood Hungama, the makers are currently finalizing the title, with an official announcement expected to follow once the name is locked. According to Adgully, the production house has been active recently, having also announced the project RamBola, directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, and released the title track for Yeh Prem Mol Liya.
Ravi Kishan has a career spanning over 200 films across Bhojpuri, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada, gaining wider prominence following his role in the 2003 film Tere Naam. Additionally, producers Mahaveer Jain and Amit Upadhyay have pledged their earnings toward seva projects for their venture Rambola.
