2027 Kawasaki Vulcan S Launched in India at Rs 8.23 Lakh

Kawasaki has launched the 2027 model-year Vulcan S cruiser in India, carrying an ex-showroom price of Rs 8.23 lakh. The updated cruiser enters the market with a Rs 10,000 price increase over the preceding model, bringing subtle revisions centered on engine torque delivery, braking hardware, and a revised colorway.

Deliveries for the newly priced cruiser are scheduled to commence in mid-September 2026. The launch marks the fifth model-year 2027 motorcycle introduced by the Japanese manufacturer in the Indian market, following prior rollouts including the Ninja 300, Versys 650, Ninja 500, and Versys 1100.

The central mechanical adjustment on the 2027 Vulcan S addresses torque output. When Kawasaki revised the motorcycle for the 2026 model year, the 649cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled petrol engine experienced a reduction of 1.4Nm in torque. The latest update restores that lost figure, bringing the peak torque back to 62.4Nm delivered at 6,600 rpm, matching the performance level of the 2024 iteration.

Power delivery remains rated at approximately 60.2 bhp to 61 hp at 7,500 rpm, routed through a six-speed gearbox. The engine maintains its characteristic under-engine muffler layout and continues to be housed within a tubular diamond frame. Fuel capacity remains pegged at 14 litres.

Beyond the engine tuning, Kawasaki has implemented downsizing on the motorcycle's disc brake rotors at both ends. The front disc rotor is now a 272mm unit, reduced from the 300mm size used on the 2026 version, while the rear disc rotor has been adjusted to a 216mm unit down from 250mm. Dual-channel ABS remains fitted as standard equipment.

Suspension hardware is carried over without modification, relying on telescopic front forks offering 130mm of travel and a rear linkage monoshock providing 80mm of travel with preload adjustability. The motorcycle retains its accessible 705mm seat height, low ground clearance of 130mm, adjustable clutch and brake levers, adjustable footpegs, and an unchanged kerb weight.

A single new aesthetic option replaces the previous colour scheme, with the 2027 Vulcan S offered in a Metallic Carbon Gray shade featuring bluish-green highlights, supplanting the Metallic Flat Spark Black of the 2026 model. Instrumentation continues to rely on an analogue-style tachometer paired with a multi-purpose LCD screen displaying speed, gear position, and an economical riding indicator.

The Vulcan S continues to occupy a distinct segment with no direct Japanese or European competitors in India. Its closest market alternative is the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, which commands a lower ex-showroom price of Rs 4.05 lakh, while upcoming alternatives include the anticipated Honda Rebel 500.
