JSW MG Motor India Unveils Hector Tomahawk EV and PHEV Lineup in Bengaluru

JSW MG Motor India has officially expanded its electrified vehicle portfolio with the regional debut of the Hector Tomahawk SUV lineup in Bengaluru. Built on the Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology, the newly introduced vehicle range offers buyers a choice between a pure electric powertrain and a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle configuration.
The launch event brought together automotive executives and state dignitaries to establish Karnataka as a key operational market for the brand's new energy vehicle strategy. Company leadership highlighted the dual-powertrain strategy as a major step toward expanding accessible electrified mobility options for Indian consumers.

Platform Architecture and Powertrain Specifications

The Hector Tomahawk is built on ADAPT, which serves as India's first dedicated Multi-New Energy Vehicle platform designed to accommodate diverse powertrain architectures. The pure electric variant is equipped with a 69.2 kWh high-voltage MAGIC Battery paired with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor. This setup generates 150 kW and 310 Nm of torque, yielding a certified driving range of 517 kilometers on a single charge while supporting DC fast charging up to 90 kW.
In contrast, the plug-in hybrid variant pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission, a 20.5 kWh battery, and a 148 kW electric drive motor. Vinay Raina, Chief Commercial Officer of JSW MG Motor India, stated: Karnataka is emerging as one of India's fastest-growing electric mobility markets and continues to be a cornerstone for our brand. Bringing the MG Hector Tomahawk to Bengaluru is a natural progression in our mission to build an interconnected New Energy Vehicle ecosystem.

Dimensional Stature and Exterior Styling

The exterior styling of the Hector Tomahawk features an aggressive geometric profile, sculpted dynamic bumpers, signature front beacon lights, and an illuminated central MG emblem. Measuring 4,745 mm in length, 2,130 mm in total width including mirrors, and 1,770 mm in height, the SUV commands an imposing road presence within its segment. Its wheelbase stretches to 2,810 mm to maximize interior cabin legroom and passenger comfort across rows.
Engineers incorporated a 230 mm ground clearance measured directly at the battery pack housing to provide clearance over urban obstacles and rugged terrains. Exterior utility is further supported by aero-optimized rotor alloy wheels designed to reduce drag and an automatic power tailgate allowing hands-free access to the luggage compartment.

Interior Luxury and Cabin Technologies

Inside the cabin, the vehicle features the Desert Squadron Interior layout finished in an Almond Brown and Carbon Black color scheme with high-grade leatherette upholstery. The seating arrangement includes ventilated front seats with 6-way power adjustment for the driver and 4-way adjustment for the co-driver, alongside a 60:40 split-folding second row with recline and slide mechanisms.
Technological integration centers on a 15.6-inch HD grand view display accompanied by an 8.8-inch digital driver instrument cluster and a 10-speaker Infinity audio system. The i-SMART 3.0 system brings over 80 connected features, including India's first in-car Generative AI voice assistant capable of processing more than 30 Hinglish voice commands alongside gesture-based i-SWIPE controls.

Battery Safety and V2H Energy Capabilities

Safety engineering for the 69.2 kWh MAGIC Battery encompasses high-thermal-stability chemistry, ceramic insulation layers, and fire-resistant electrolytes. The battery pack successfully passed rigorous validation protocols, including complete needle penetration, 180-degree thermal shock resistance, and external short-circuit tests without structural abnormality or thermal runaway.
Highlighting utility advancements, the vehicle introduces India's first Vehicle-to-Home power transfer capability, allowing the SUV to function as a mobile power source for household appliances or emergency electricity needs. Sunil Pai, CEO of Jubilant MotorWorks, remarked: With its commanding stance, segment-first tech features, and versatile powertrains, the Hector Tomahawk sets a brand-new benchmark for premium SUVs across our service network.

Pricing Structure and Ownership Programs

The pricing strategy incorporates an innovative Battery-as-a-Service model alongside traditional upfront purchase options to lower the initial acquisition barrier. The Hector Tomahawk EV starts at an introductory Baas price of ₹13,99,800 plus a battery rental fee of ₹4.90 per kilometer, while full-vehicle variants range from ₹19,49,800 to ₹23,49,800 depending on trim selection.
The PHEV variant opens at ₹21,79,800 under the BaaS scheme with a ₹3.20 per kilometer battery rental, while full-vehicle hybrid models span from ₹25,69,800 to ₹27,79,800. Ownership protection includes an industry-first lifetime battery warranty for the initial registered owner across both powertrain configurations.

Booking Milestones and Delivery Schedule

Order books are officially open at all authorized dealerships across Bengaluru and through the manufacturer digital booking portal. Deliveries for the pure electric Hector Tomahawk EV are scheduled to begin in September 2026, while customer test drives and vehicle handovers for the plug-in hybrid variant will follow in November 2026.
