Houthi Missile Strike on Yemen Army Camp in Shabwa Kills at Least 53

A targeted ballistic missile bombardment launched by Houthi forces struck the al-Alam security installation in southern Yemen, leaving at least 53 individuals dead. Spokespersons for government forces reported that three long-range projectiles impacted the facility in Shabwa governorate while troops were conducting morning training exercises. Initial battlefield reports from local authorities and medical teams indicated 18 fatalities alongside 30 wounded soldiers at the compound. Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi stated that the victims were newly enlisted recruits and promised a resolute government counter-response. Houthi military representatives acknowledged deploying the missile volley, characterizing the facility as a legitimate operational target harboring Saudi-aligned forces. Shabwa Deputy Governor Fahad al-Khalifi noted that regional medical facilities were overwhelmed, requiring the emergency evacuation of critically wounded personnel to Hadramout and Aden. Yemeni Information Minister Moammar al-Eryani denounced the lethal strike on an internal security academy as a grave violation of international law.
Shabwa authorities urged Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, the government, and the Saudi-led coalition to provide air defence systems and early-warning capabilities to strengthen provincial defences.
