Samsung Launches Galaxy A18 4G With Exynos 1610 and Six-Year Update Policy

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A18 4G in European markets, marking a shift in the series by adopting the company's own Exynos 1610 processor. The device, which succeeds the Galaxy A17 4G, features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and is protected by an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance. The handset is priced at 279 EUR for the base 4GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration, with official sales and shipments scheduled to begin on September 18, 2026.

While earlier industry speculation suggested the device would utilize a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, similar to its predecessors in the A15, A16, and A17 lines, Samsung has opted for its proprietary Exynos 1610. The octa-core processor is paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which remains expandable up to 2TB via a microSD card slot. The device maintains a 5,000mAh battery capacity, supporting 25W wired fast charging that Samsung claims can reach a 50 percent charge in 30 minutes.

The Galaxy A18 4G runs on Android 17 with the One UI 9.0 interface. Samsung has committed to a long-term software support policy, promising six generations of operating system updates and six years of security patches. This commitment aligns with the update cycle established for the preceding A17 model. The device also integrates several AI-driven tools, including Google's Circle to Search and Gemini, which allows users to execute tasks like calendar management and messaging through natural language commands.

The rear camera system consists of a 50-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and autofocus, accompanied by a 5-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. The front-facing camera is a 13-megapixel unit with an f/2.0 aperture. While the primary camera supports 10x digital zoom, it lacks optical image stabilisation. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC. The device is available in Black, Grey, and Light Blue, with higher-capacity 256GB storage variants confirmed for markets including Norway and Sweden.
