Oppo Reno 17 Teaser Shows Familiar Design With Glowing Cat Element

Smartphone manufacturer Oppo has shared an official video teaser for its upcoming Reno 17 lineup in China, revealing a familiar rear aesthetic augmented by a distinctive illuminated cat-shaped emblem. The Reno 17 series has already been listed on the company's online retail store in China for pre-orders ahead of its scheduled debut next week on November 9, 2026. The launch event will introduce both the standard Reno 17 and the higher-end Reno 17 Pro, alongside the Oppo Pad Air 6 tablet and the Oppo Watch 5 smartwatch. The preview footage reveals a flat rear panel constructed with a silver-finished metal mid-frame, positioning the power toggle and volume controls along the right edge.
Rear Panel Aesthetics and Illuminated Cat Cutout
A square-shaped camera module occupies the upper-left corner of the rear shell, incorporating Reno branding, a triple camera system, and an integrated LED flash. Positioned toward the center of the rear glass is a glowing cat-like cutout element that lights up when active. Similar feline imagery appears across marketing material on the brand's official Weibo social channel, though the company has not specified whether the glowing emblem is featured on both models. The previewed handset is displayed in an Ice Moon White shade, alongside reported colorways including Cocoa Brown, Encounter Cat, Snow White, and Starlight Pink. The predecessor Oppo Reno 16 featured a 3D Pop Planet design incorporating a floating planetary effect, a glitter finish, and a distinctive ring around the camera module, according to 91mobiles.
Display Dimensions and Processor Configurations
Preliminary hardware leaks suggest that the standard Reno 17 will sport a 6.5-inch display, while the Reno 17 Pro will boast a slightly more compact 6.3-inch touchscreen. The standard model will reportedly be driven by Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 mobile processor. Meanwhile, the premium Reno 17 Pro is said to feature MediaTek's Dimensity 8550 system-on-chip. Both smartphones are anticipated to hit Chinese retail channels in three memory configurations, comprising 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB options. The standard Oppo Reno 17 is tipped to feature an 8,000mAh-class battery, while the Reno 17 Pro is expected to pack a 7,200mAh-class battery, according to 91mobiles.
Pre-Order Availability and Market Rollout
The brand has yet to announce official retail pricing for either handset or specify release schedules for international markets, including India. The design direction follows industry trends where mobile brands incorporate custom decorative lighting cutouts on back panels to distinguish upper-midrange hardware. Prospective buyers in China can register advance pre-orders on the manufacturer's e-commerce portal as launch preparations conclude. In social media discussion, tech observers noted that adding illuminated cutouts provides upper-midrange phones with distinct visual personality. Early supply chain speculation suggests that international releases for the Reno 17 series could potentially begin around early January 2027.
