Motorola Signature 27 Ranked Top Camera Phone by DXOMARK

Independent testing organization DXOMARK has ranked the Motorola Signature 27 as the top smartphone camera system released in 2026, outperforming competing Android and iOS flagships. The newly unveiled flagship achieved an overall benchmark score of 173, securing DXOMARK's Gold Label Camera distinction across rigorous photographic and videographic evaluations.
DXOMARK, an independent testing laboratory with more than 20 years of image quality evaluation expertise, assessed the device across diverse real-world shooting environments. The testing framework evaluated the handset across two primary subscores for photography and videography, validating performance under varied illumination levels.
Matt Biggerstaff, Director of Engineering, Camera Design at Motorola, noted that the company has improved its overall DXOMARK ratings by more than 70 points over the past five years. To achieve this benchmark standing, engineering teams captured hundreds of thousands of test images and spent weeks working alongside evaluation specialists in Paris. DXOMARK Chief Executive Officer Frederic Guichard stated that every exceptional camera originates from a thorough comprehension of user expectations, commending the joint technical cooperation.
Multi-Sensor Camera Architecture and Optical Hardware
Developed in partnership with Qualcomm Technologies, the handset combines computational photography algorithms powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen platform. At the foundation of the array, the 50MP Sony LYTIA L910 main camera incorporates LOFIC hardware sensor technology to preserve intricate highlight details and shadow definition. The setup pairs this sensor with an optically stabilized 200MP periscope telephoto lens offering a 3.5x optical zoom module and AI-driven Super Zoom Pro. The quad-camera configuration also incorporates a 50MP ultrawide lens with a 122-degree field of view alongside a dedicated EVS Action Sensor engineered for Action Shot motion tracking. For videographers, the handset integrates Motorola's Video Enhancement Engine and supports Dolby Vision recording for expanded dynamic range and visual depth.
Tandem OLED Display and Commercial Release
Beyond optics, the device features a 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED Duo tandem display boasting 1,272-by-2,772-pixel resolution and capable of reaching 12000 nits of peak brightness. The dual-layer tandem OLED architecture reportedly delivers up to 34% greater energy efficiency compared to conventional single-layer panels.
The smartphone launches with Android 17 and is backed by a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery supporting intensive daily usage. The unlocked flagship carries an official retail price of $1599.99 in a single configuration with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Preorders open November 19 at major retail outlets including Motorola.com, Amazon, and Best Buy ahead of official in-store market availability beginning November 26. Motorola announced that the Signature 27 will be available on November 16, 2026 across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at a recommended retail price of $1,599 or €1,899, according to GSMArena.
