Meta Expands Threads Podcast Toolkit to Boost Creator Engagement
Meta has introduced a suite of new features on its social network Threads, designed to help podcast creators promote their shows and deepen engagement with listeners. The update, which began rolling out on September 16, 2026, focuses on making the platform a central hub for podcast-related discussion rather than a hosting service for audio files.
Enhanced Promotion and Discovery Tools
The new toolkit expands on existing podcast profile cards by introducing banners that creators can display across their profiles and posts. These banners are intended to increase the visibility of a show beyond a static profile link. Additionally, the platform has implemented an episode picker and interactive link cards, which allow hosts to spotlight specific episodes. When shared, these links appear as tappable cards, streamlining the user experience for listeners who wish to access content on external services like Spotify or Apple Podcasts.
To further enrich the content shared on the platform, Threads now supports episode transcripts, allowing users to read along while listening. Creators can also tag featured guests, which triggers the display of an information card dedicated to that guest. To ensure content remains accessible, a new save function allows users to bookmark posts featuring episodes, transcripts, or guest cards for later consumption.
Analytics and Creator Workflow
Beyond promotional tools, Meta is providing creators with updated Podcast Insights. These metrics allow hosts to track the reach and engagement generated by their posts, including specific data on clicks and saves. The analytics dashboard breaks down engagement by followers, non-followers, and the total audience, providing creators with a clearer view of how the platform converts attention into traffic.
To maintain a consistent posting cadence, the platform is also introducing automated reminders that nudge creators to share their content when a new episode is released. This strategy aligns with Meta's broader goal of positioning Threads as the default venue for podcast-related conversation. Connor Hayes, head of Threads, has previously stated that the platform aims to be the place where the conversation happens, rather than competing with dedicated audio hosting services. This development follows a period of significant growth for the network, which reported 500 million monthly active users as of June 2026.
