India Under-19 cricket team secured a hard-fought seven-run victory over Australia Under-19 in the opening match of their multi-format youth series at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Friday. Played as a 20-overs-a-side contest following persistent weather delays, the game featured notable contributions from second-generation talents Aaryavir Sehwag and Anvay Dravid, alongside an all-around performance by Yashbardhan Chauhan.

Asked to bat first on a surface that required careful consolidation after early morning rain forced a reduction in overs, India posted 182 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. Chauhan anchored the innings with a blistering 54 off 34 deliveries, striking five fours and two sixes. He was supported by Anvay Dravid, son of former India captain Rahul Dravid, who smashed 38 off just 18 balls with three sixes and two fours at a strike rate of 211.11. Opener Aaryavir Sehwag, son of former explosive opener Virender Sehwag, provided a brisk start by scoring 28 off 26 deliveries before falling just after the powerplay.

India faced a mid-innings wobble when they slipped to 88 for 4 following quick wickets, including captain Lakshya Raichandani for 15 and Arjun Rajput for 15.
