BCCI Secures Two-Season Title Sponsorship With Muthoot Fincorp Ahead of West Indies Series

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has reportedly secured Muthoot Fincorp as the official title sponsor for the next two home cricket seasons. The commercial agreement was finalized just days before the commencement of India's white-ball home series against the West Indies, which includes three One Day Internationals and five Twenty20 Internationals starting September 27.

According to reports citing Cricbuzz, the board locked in the sponsorship agreement at a base price of INR 4.85 crore per match. Industry reporting noted that the substantial financial threshold contributed to a limited number of interested bidders during the procurement process.

The upcoming white-ball assignment opens at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, September 27, for the first ODI. The second and third ODIs are scheduled for September 30 in Guwahati and October 3 respectively. Following the 50-over matches, the five-match T20I leg is set to run from October 6 through October 17.

India's squad composition reflects a strategic division of personnel across simultaneous fixtures, as several frontline regulars participate in the Asian Games. Shubman Gill retains the ODI captaincy, with KL Rahul appointed as vice-captain for the 15-member roster. The ODI squad also sees the return of senior figures Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli alongside Ravindra Jadeja.

The home selection committee introduced fresh personnel alongside returning veterans for the West Indies visit. Auqib Nabi and Naman Dhir earned their maiden call-ups to the ODI squad, while Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Dhruv Jurel also secured selection.

Conversely, several prominent names remain absent from the white-ball setup. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was left out of both limited-overs squads, while established multi-format players Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Axar Patel, and Jasprit Bumrah were assigned to Asian Games duty.

For the subsequent T20I series, Shreyas Iyer takes over leadership duties as captain of the national side, supported by Tilak Varma as vice-captain. The T20I roster blends emerging talent with established short-format specialists.

The selected T20I group features Abhishek Sharma, young prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, and Mayank Yadav.

The commercial announcement coincides with major administrative developments across international cricket, highlighted by Cricket West Indies implementing sweeping financial restructuring. CWI announced a 25 percent reduction in retainer fees for international players alongside a reduction of domestic contracts to seven months in response to severe funding pressures and an approved USD 16 million loan facility from the International Cricket Council.

In historical One Day Internationals between India and West Indies, India has secured 72 victories across 142 matches. Additionally, reports noted that the ICC approved a loan of 12.82 million US dollars for Cricket West Indies amid collapsing revenues and shrinking cash reserves.

To manage mounting travel costs and operational deficits, CWI suspended its domestic Super50 tournament and the women's T20 Blaze. The board plans to institute invitational qualification tournaments aligned with the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics while arranging a white-ball series against England A in November to prepare its ODI squad for upcoming global qualifying fixtures.
