Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Service Scheduled For Launch On November 1

The Indian Railways plans to inaugurate a new overnight Vande Bharat sleeper route between Bengaluru and Mumbai on November 1. Timed alongside the Karnataka Rajyotsava festival, regular passenger operations on the interstate corridor are slated to commence the following day.
Railway sources indicated that the fare for the journey could range from Rs 2,600 to Rs 4,250 depending on the travel class.
South Western Railway officials indicated that Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is anticipated to flag off the inaugural run. Administrative clearance followed formal deliberations documented in Railway Board meeting records dating back to February 16, 2026. Official circulars confirm the service is scheduled to run six days every week, though formal gazette notification remains pending.
Operational Schedule And Timetable
The outbound journey will operate as Train Number 27652, departing from KSR Bengaluru station at 10:00 pm in the evening.
Covering the journey in approximately 16 hours, the semi-high-speed service will shave roughly six travel hours compared with the 22-hour duration required by existing superfast trains such as the Udyan Express.
Route Stoppages And Technical Specifications
Covering approximately 1,118 kilometers across Karnataka and Maharashtra, the proposed alignment links Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal with central Mumbai. Planned commercial halts along the broad-gauge route comprise Anantapur, Guntakal, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Solapur, Pune, and Kalyan.
The sixteen-coach train composition offers berths across three distinct air-conditioned classes, accommodating an estimated capacity of 823 passengers. Passenger cars incorporate automated sliding doors, active closed-circuit television surveillance, advanced fire-detection hardware, modular bio-vacuum toilets, and indigenous Kavach anti-collision architecture. The corridor represents India's second semi-high-speed sleeper deployment following the Kamakhya-Howrah connection introduced in January 2026.
Between January and July 2026, the Howrah to Kamakhya Vande Bharat Sleeper recorded 126% occupancy on Train 27575 and 103% occupancy on Train 27576.
