Ultraviolette Secures USD 85 Million to Fund Global EV Expansion and New Hosur Facility
Bengaluru-based electric vehicle manufacturer Ultraviolette has secured USD 85 million in a fresh funding round led by deep tech fund Yali Capital and TDK Ventures. The capital injection will finance a new manufacturing facility in Hosur designed to scale production up to five lakh units annually, supporting the current portfolio alongside upcoming global models.
The investment round also saw participation from Intel CEO and Walden International Chairman Lip-Bu Tan, who has officially joined the Indian electric two-wheeler maker as an advisor and investor. Existing backers including Zoho Corporation, TVS Motor, and Qualcomm Ventures maintained their support as the company prepares for broader international expansion.
Manufacturing Expansion and Facility Scaling
The newly planned production plant in Hosur represents a major operational scaling step for the brand, targeting an annual output ceiling of 5 lakh vehicles. This manufacturing capacity will support the ongoing production of existing platforms such as the F77 Mach 2, F77 Superstreet, and the X-47 crossover patrol variants, which have recently seen frontline adoption by municipal law enforcement agencies in India.
Company leadership indicated that the capital will simultaneously fund the engineering and development of next-generation global EV platforms. Ultraviolette currently maintains in-house capabilities to design and construct proprietary battery architectures ranging from 48V to 400V, providing structural flexibility for diverse thermal, packaging, and performance parameters across upcoming vehicle segments.
International Markets and Product Pipeline
Beyond domestic operations, Ultraviolette is preparing for a scheduled entry into the United States market next year, alongside targeted commercial rollouts across Latin America and Southeast Asia. The company currently retails across India and twenty European nations, including Germany, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
The expansion strategy rests on a growing product pipeline that includes upcoming model introductions such as the Tesseract scooter and the Shockwave motorcycle. According to Yali Capital Founding Managing Partner Ganapathy Subramaniam, the upcoming Tesseract launch in early next year will extend the firm's engineering and radar-based safety focus into the broader scooter segment.
Strategic Backing and Industry Position
TDK Ventures highlighted that advancing electric two-wheeler adoption globally requires differentiated technology paired with superior product engineering. Investor leadership noted that the brand's vertically integrated approach, spanning battery technology, power electronics, vehicle architecture, and intelligent software, positions it uniquely among domestic manufacturers attempting global scale.
With the fresh capital deployed, Ultraviolette intends to accelerate its international footprint while ramping up domestic manufacturing infrastructure to meet projected export demand across multiple continents through the upcoming financial cycles.
