Saudi Arabia Unveils CEER EXOBOT Electric Sedan and SUV

Saudi Arabia's national automotive company, CEER, has officially unveiled its flagship electric vehicles, the EXOBOT sedan and SUV. The reveal, conducted by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, marks the company's formal entry into the passenger electric vehicle market as a central component of the Kingdom's industrial diversification strategy under Saudi Vision 2030.

The EXOBOT sedan and SUV serve as the initial offerings in a broader seven-model portfolio that CEER intends to launch over the next five years. This future lineup is expected to encompass a range of midsize and compact vehicles, offering various powertrain configurations to address diverse consumer requirements. While series production has not yet commenced, the company has confirmed that all models will be designed, engineered, and manufactured domestically at the CEER Manufacturing Complex (CMC) located in King Abdullah Economic City.

CEER, which was established in 2022, operates as a key initiative of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) to position Saudi Arabia as a global automotive hub. The company has secured strategic partnerships with international automotive firms, including BMW, Hyundai, and Rimac, to support its development goals. CEER aims to achieve 45 percent local content in its vehicles by 2034. The project is projected to contribute more than USD 8 billion to the national gross domestic product by 2034 while generating significant direct and indirect employment.

The design language of the EXOBOT series, overseen by Design Director Rob Melville, is intended to reflect Saudi cultural identity, drawing inspiration from the nation's landscape, including Najdi architecture, Red Sea coral, and traditional Sadu weaving patterns. The CMC facility is positioned as the largest automotive production site in the Middle East. CEER represents one of three major automotive projects currently linked to the PIF within King Abdullah Economic City, alongside the assembly operations of Lucid and a forthcoming joint venture plant with Hyundai, which is scheduled to begin production this year. The Ministry of Investment has established a sector-wide target of producing 500,000 electric vehicles annually by 2030.

The CEER Manufacturing Complex is designed for an annual production capacity of 240,000 vehicles across a 1 million+ square meter site. This capacity establishes the facility as the largest automotive manufacturing complex and the most advanced EV-specific manufacturing operation in the Middle East and North Africa.

HMMME broke ground on May 14, 2025, in King Abdullah Economic City as a joint venture owned 70% by PIF and 30% by Hyundai. The facility is scheduled to begin commercial production in the fourth quarter of 2026 with a targeted annual capacity of 50,000 ICE and electric vehicles.
