Mahindra Teases XUV3XO CNG Ahead of October 15 Reveal

Mahindra has released its first teaser for the upcoming XUV3XO CNG, confirming an official reveal date of October 15, 2026. The new factory-fitted CNG variant aims to capture market share in the fiercely competitive sub-4-metre SUV segment, where it will compete directly with established models such as the Tata Nexon i-CNG and Maruti Suzuki Brezza S-CNG. The expansion comes as the broader XUV3XO lineup experiences strong demand, recording 8,302 units in August 2026, marking a 50.37% increase year-on-year.
The initial teaser showcases a red XUV3XO featuring a body-coloured panel between the headlamps, accompanied by slim metallic inserts flanking the central Twin Peaks emblem. This distinctive treatment aligns with Mahindra's REVX styling variants. Black exterior rear-view mirrors contrast against the red bodywork, while a dedicated frame highlights the inclusion of a panoramic sunroof, indicating that the CNG option will be offered with higher-tier equipment levels rather than restricted to base trims.
Spy Sightings And Design Details
Recent spy photographs captured a largely undisguised white test mule carrying a CNG sticker on its rear windscreen, with patterned camouflage confined to a small area around the rear registration plate. The test vehicle retains familiar design cues including connected rear lighting, roof rails, a rear spoiler, a rear wiper, and a black bumper adorned with silver-finished lower trim. However, manufacturer specifications regarding the cylinder configuration, whether single or dual cylinder, and the resulting impact on boot capacity remain unconfirmed.
Expected Powertrain And Pricing Structure
Under the bonnet, the XUV3XO CNG is anticipated to use Mahindra's 1.2-litre turbocharged MPFI petrol engine, which delivers approximately 110 bhp and 200 Nm of torque in standard petrol configuration. Certified fuel efficiency figures, transmission choices, and power outputs specifically in CNG mode have not yet been disclosed by the manufacturer.
Industry expectations place the CNG lineup across REVX M and AX5 trim levels. In the existing petrol portfolio, the REVX M is listed at Rs 8.59 lakh, while REVX M(O) ranges from Rs 9.09 lakh to Rs 9.99 lakh, and AX5 versions span from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 11.88 lakh ex-showroom. A starting price positioned below Rs 10 lakh would place the entry-level CNG variant above its pure petrol counterpart while maintaining accessibility for cost-conscious buyers seeking factory-fitted alternative fuel options during the festive shopping period.
What buyers should check on reveal day
The teaser establishes that a CNG variant is coming, but it does not yet establish certified mileage, engine output in gas mode, boot capacity or the full variant list. Those are the specifications that will determine whether the XUV 3XO is competitive with other factory-CNG compact SUVs. A buyer comparing running costs should use local CNG and petrol prices, annual distance and the car's real-world consumption; a higher purchase price can outweigh cheaper fuel for low-mileage drivers. Cylinder packaging and access to luggage space also matter for families. The October 15 announcement should be treated as an upcoming reveal until Mahindra publishes its final prices, homologation figures, warranty and booking arrangements.
