Skoda Previews Epiq Sportline Ahead of Paris Debut; India Plans Remain Unconfirmed

On October 8, Škoda previewed the Epiq Sportline ahead of its first public presentation at the Paris Motor Show, scheduled for October 13–18, 2026. The styling-focused variant is set to appear alongside the larger Peaq electric vehicle. The preview should not be described as a public debut that has already taken place.
Skoda provides an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty on electric vehicle traction batteries.
The announced public debut has renewed speculation regarding an anticipated Indian market introduction around 2027. However, manufacturing pathways remain unconfirmed, raising questions over whether early models would be imported or locally assembled ahead of Skoda's broader localized EV manufacturing roadmap slated for 2028.
Styling and Dimensional Packaging
While full technical specifications for the Sportline variant remain undisclosed by the manufacturer, official teasers confirm darker exterior highlights and dedicated badging. The standard Epiq architecture measures 4,171mm in length, features a 2,601mm wheelbase, and delivers substantial utility through a 475-litre boot alongside a 25-litre front storage compartment.
Inside the cabin, international versions feature a 13-inch central touchscreen paired with a 10.24-inch instrument display, while upper trims incorporate advanced driver assistance systems and panoramic glass roofs. The Sportline trim focuses purely on aggressive cosmetic differentiation rather than delivering an outright mechanical performance leap akin to an RS badge.
Powertrain Options and Competitive Landscape
Globally, the standard Epiq is engineered with 38.5kWh and 55kWh battery pack options spanning three distinct power outputs, topped by a 211hp and 290Nm variant. Claimed driving range reaches up to 440km, while DC fast charging supports a 10 to 80 percent replenishment cycle in approximately 24 minutes.
Should the compact crossover reach Indian showrooms, industry analysts project an estimated price band ranging between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 26 lakh. At this positioning, it would challenge segment contenders such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti e Vitara, and Mahindra BE 6.
Fleet Compliance and Strategic Outlook
Škoda's accelerated electric vehicle push aligns with tightening corporate average fuel economy standards, specifically upcoming CAFE III regulations taking effect in 2027. Local passenger vehicle offerings remain heavily petrol-oriented, making battery-electric additions vital for fleet-emission compliance.
Škoda said on October 8 that combined international orders for the Epiq and Peaq models have already surpassed 70,000 units. Whether the compact crossover materializes in India by 2027 will depend on localized production timelines and regulatory readiness.
What Indian buyers can conclude now
The October 8 announcement was a preview ahead of the Paris Motor Show's October 13–18 dates, not evidence that visitors had already seen the car on the stand. More importantly, European Epiq specifications do not establish an Indian launch, local price or locally homologated range. A Sportline badge generally signals styling and equipment rather than the extra power associated with a performance model, so buyers should resist assuming the two are equivalent. The useful milestones are a formal India confirmation, battery and charging specifications for that market, dealer availability and an official price; until then, quoted Indian prices remain estimates.
