Force Motors to Launch Electric Traveller by Early 2027

Commercial vehicle manufacturer Force Motors outlined strategic preparations to introduce electric vehicles on its flagship Traveller platform during the January to March quarter of 2027. The Pune-based automotive enterprise is committing an aggregate capital expenditure of 3000 crore rupees across manufacturing infrastructure, vehicle engineering, electrification, and digitization. According to corporate disclosures, the long-term investment initiative will simultaneously expand overall manufacturing capacity to 85000 vehicles per annum. Managing Director Prasan Firodia stated that electric models on the Traveller architecture have concluded development and entered final validation cycles. The zero-emission commercial vehicles are undergoing statutory testing and technical homologation with the Automotive Research Association of India.
Electric Ambulance Deployment and Platform Versatility
Automotive product roadmaps indicate that a zero-emission electric ambulance is scheduled to be introduced among the manufacturer's initial commercial offerings. Force Motors initially showcased a prototype electric derivative of the popular Traveller van at the Auto Expo in 2024. While commercial retail deliveries were postponed following that demonstration, the manufacturing group intends to launch multiple specialized Traveller EV variants. The versatile commercial van platform currently supports diverse public mobility roles, including emergency healthcare transport, educational school buses, and urban police logistics. Institutional fleet operators also deploy Traveller vehicles across corporate personnel shuttling, intercity tourism transport, and last-mile cargo delivery routes. The electric Force Traveller ambulance offers a claimed single-charge range of 235 km and supports 1C DC fast charging from 0 to 100 percent in approximately 1.3 hours. Conventional diesel Force Traveller ambulances retail between Rs 15.60 lakh for patient transport and Rs 23.40 lakh for Type D advanced life support models, according to TractorJunction. The PM E-DRIVE scheme backs the deployment of up to 3,811 e-ambulances with Rs 500 crore, according to NDTV.
Urbania EV Development and Product Rollout Strategy
Following the rollout of Traveller variants, Force Motors plans to commercialize an electric derivative of its premium Urbania people carrier. The Urbania EV remains in active engineering development and will require several months of testing prior to official regulatory certification. Corporate leadership outlined a multi-phase transition roadmap to systematically electrify adjacent light commercial vehicle chassis lines over coming years. Firodia emphasized that electric powertrain adoption across sub-seven-metre passenger transport vehicles is expected to follow a measured trajectory. Industry analysts observe that charging infrastructure availability and demanding institutional duty cycles will govern commercial fleet conversion timetables. For its electric ambulance platforms, Force Motors established a manufacturer warranty of five years or 2,000 cycles for the battery pack alongside a three-year or 3 lakh km warranty on the vehicle motor, according to NDTV.
Manufacturing Investment and Commercial Fleet Outlook
Emergency ambulance operations require dependable depot charging and rapid response readiness to ensure continuous healthcare service delivery. Institutional transport buyers are evaluating total cost of ownership benefits against upfront procurement investments for electric passenger vans. The manufacturer's capital allocation supports advanced powertrain research, hybrid driveline development, and modernized robotic assembly lines. Expanding production capacity positions the Pune automaker to satisfy growing domestic fleet renewal and institutional zero-emission vehicle mandates. The planned 2027 market introduction represents an important milestone in electrifying India's light passenger carrier and emergency transport segments.
