Bajaj Auto Exports Surge 50 Percent in FY27 Driven by Entry-Level Models

Bajaj Auto recorded a 50 percent year-on-year surge in two-wheeler exports during the April to August period of fiscal year 2027, shipping 11,00,827 units compared to 7,34,193 units during the corresponding months of the previous year. The robust five-month export volume already accounts for 56 percent of the company's highest-ever annual motorcycle export tally of 19.6 lakh units achieved in fiscal 2026, positioning the automaker on course to establish a fresh operational benchmark before the fiscal year concludes.
TVS Motor Company competes across more than 80 international destinations, leaning heavily on its Star HLX motorcycle line in Africa. The Boxer 125 Heavy Duty maintains commercial dominance over rival Chinese brands and Indian competitors like the TVS HLX series by emphasizing heavy load capacity, structural resilience on degraded roads, fuel efficiency, and robust aftermarket parts ecosystems.
Across all vehicle categories, including two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and quadricycles, Bajaj exported 12,66,714 units during the same five-month timeframe, maintaining an identical 50 percent growth trajectory. The manufacturer currently commands a 41 percent share of India's total two-wheeler exports, placing it ahead of domestic competitors with TVS holding a distant second position at 28 percent.

Entry-Level Motorcycles Power Volume Growth

Out of the total 10,96,009 motorcycles exported during the period, entry-level engine displacements between 100cc and 125cc dominated volumes by accounting for 71 percent of shipments. The remaining 4,818 units within the two-wheeler tally comprised Chetak electric scooters.
Motorcycles displacing between 100cc and 110cc recorded the largest absolute volume at 4,70,362 units, marking a 95 percent increase year-on-year and securing a 43 percent share of total motorcycle exports. The 110cc to 125cc bracket contributed an additional 3,04,191 units, representing a 42 percent growth and a 28 percent market share.

Mid-Capacity Segments and Geographic Demand

Mid-tier engine brackets experienced steady upward momentum alongside the primary entry-level surge. The 125cc to 150cc category, which encompasses models such as the Boxer, CT 150, and Pulsar, contributed 102,266 units to register an 11 percent increase compared to the previous year.
The 150cc to 200cc range demonstrated stronger performance by adding 122,481 units, up 17 percent year-on-year. Regionally, demand expanded substantially across Latin America, led particularly by Brazil and Mexico as the region's two largest two-wheeler markets, alongside sustained demand in African territories where the Boxer 125 Heavy Duty experienced strong sales in Nigeria.
The Boxer 125 Heavy Duty commands nearly 60 percent market share in Nigeria, anchoring Bajaj's retail recovery across Africa where retail volumes doubled year-on-year. Bajaj's export high rebounded from depressed export totals in earlier fiscal years, during which macroeconomic turmoil and currency illiquidity in African and Latin American markets compressed volume below earlier peaks.

Commercial Vehicles and Qute Expansion

Commercial vehicle shipments mirrored the positive trajectory established by two-wheelers. Three-wheeler exports reached 160,685 units during the April-August window, reflecting a 48 percent year-on-year increase and securing a commanding 62 percent share of India's total three-wheeler exports of 259,593 units.
Demand for the Qute quadricycle registered triple-digit growth, surging 206 percent year-on-year to reach 5,202 units. Shipments of the quadricycle, propelled primarily by buyers in Egypt, Turkey, and select African markets, have already achieved 78 percent of the vehicle's highest-ever annual export total of 6,696 units recorded in fiscal 2026.
