Saudi Aramco Acquires 49 Percent Stake in AI Venture Humain in 2.6 Billion Dollar PIF Partnership

Saudi Aramco completed the acquisition of a 49 percent equity stake in artificial intelligence enterprise Humain, Middle East Online reported. The transaction entails approximately 9.9 billion Saudi riyals, equivalent to 2.6 billion dollars, in cash contributions during 2026 alongside contributions of computing, digital, and technological assets, Arabian Business reported. Saudi Arabia's sovereign Public Investment Fund retains a 51 percent controlling ownership interest following the transaction, Middle East Online noted. Aramco executed the investment through a wholly owned corporate subsidiary, uniting technological capabilities from both kingdom institutions under Humain.
Data Center Targets and ALLaM Foundation Model
Under the partnership agreement, Aramco and the Public Investment Fund will supervise Humain's expansion across domestic and international computing markets, Middle East Online reported. Humain aims to deploy 3 gigawatts of artificial intelligence data center capacity by 2030 to accommodate rising regional demand for computational processing, Middle East Online noted. The enterprise is also engineering cloud platforms and proprietary foundational software, including ALLaM, a multimodal large language model designed for Arabic-language applications. Humain operates across four core technical domains: next-generation facilities, high-performance computing infrastructure, foundational models, and specialized industry applications.
Industrial Deployment and Technology Realized Value
For Aramco, the strategic investment provides infrastructure access to scale artificial intelligence applications throughout upstream and downstream energy operations, Arabian Business reported. Company leadership anticipates that Humain's advanced digital services will optimize operational performance while monetizing existing proprietary software solutions, Middle East Online reported. Aramco President and Chief Executive Officer Amin Nasser stated that the alliance reinforces the firm's global technology standing while advancing Saudi Arabia's domestic technological base. Nasser highlighted that Aramco has realized 11.3 billion dollars in technology value since 2023, attributing a substantial share of those financial gains to internal artificial intelligence implementations.
Forbes Middle East ranked Saudi Aramco first in the energy sector on its 2026 list of the 100 Most Valuable Companies, citing a market value of $1.7 trillion.
The Saudi Company for Artificial Intelligence, wholly owned by PIF, was transferred to Humain to enhance the company's capabilities, according to Aramco Singapore.
Saudi Aramco expects the partnership with Humain to create additional revenue streams and improve margins, according to Forbes Middle East.
Sovereign Portfolio Integration and Long-Term Roadmap
Public Investment Fund Deputy Governor and Head of MENA Investments Yazeed Al-Humied stated that combining both entities' artificial intelligence portfolios under Humain fosters technical development and domestic intellectual property creation, Arabian Business reported. The completed acquisition formalizes a preliminary framework established between Aramco and the sovereign fund in October 2025, Middle East Online noted. Humain was initially established in May 2025 as part of the kingdom's broader technological transformation roadmap, Middle East Online reported. The transaction represents a significant step in expanding national computational infrastructure to support large-scale enterprise artificial intelligence deployments across both public and private sectors.
