While the comprehensive text remains unreleased, senior American and European diplomats confirmed that the pact establishes definitive guidelines governing Arctic defence architecture, military basing rights, and strict foreign investment curbs. The diplomatic breakthrough averts a severe rift among North Atlantic Treaty Organization allies over the strategically vital Arctic island.

President Trump announced via social media that the treaty secures permanent United States control over security infrastructure and operational requirements across Greenland without imposing direct financial obligations on Washington. He highlighted that the agreement incorporates rigorous safeguards blocking adversarial nations from establishing military installations or executing sensitive investments on the island without explicit American clearance.

According to an anonymous US State Department official, the pact guarantees permanent overflight, access, and basing rights for American armed forces. Crucially, the official noted that the agreement remains fully binding even if Greenland formalizes complete independence from Denmark in future years, affording Washington unilateral authority to construct expanded military facilities without seeking prior consent from local governance bodies in Nuuk or Copenhagen.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen released a joint statement endorsing the framework as a crucial enhancement for collective defence across the North Atlantic and Arctic sectors. Frederiksen underscored that the arrangement formally respects the territorial integrity of the Danish realm and protects the self-determination rights of Greenlandic citizens.

Nielsen characterized the impending signature as a positive milestone cementing Greenland's active integration into Western security cooperation. Richard Weitz, a senior fellow at the NATO Defense College, noted that the compromise permits President Trump to secure a major diplomatic milestone without pursuing earlier threats of forcible territorial seizure.

Washington maintains an established military footprint at the Pituffik Space Base in northwestern Greenland pursuant to a 1951 bilateral defence pact.
