Xiaomi Launches Redmi Note 17 Pro Series With High-Capacity Batteries

Xiaomi has expanded its smartphone portfolio in India with the launch of the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. The devices, which the company has branded as the mAHster of strength, focus heavily on battery longevity and durability, featuring silicon-carbon battery technology that Xiaomi claims can retain 80 percent capacity after 1,600 charging cycles.

Battery Performance and Charging Capabilities

The standout feature of the new series is the battery capacity. The Redmi Note 17 Pro is equipped with a 9,000mAh cell supporting 67W charging, while the Pro Max variant features a 10,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging. Xiaomi claims the Pro model can deliver up to 3.5 days of usage on a single charge, with the Pro Max extending this to four days. Additionally, the Pro Max supports 27W wired reverse charging, and the company notes that a five-minute charge on the Pro model provides approximately three hours of video playback.

Display and Hardware Specifications

Both models share a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,500 nits. The panels utilize 12-bit color technology, capable of reproducing 68.7 billion colors, and are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Under the hood, the hardware differs: the Pro model runs on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset with up to 8GB of RAM, while the Pro Max is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 SoC with up to 12GB of RAM. Both devices operate on Xiaomi's HyperOS 3, based on Android 16, with a software support guarantee of four years of OS updates and six years of security patches.

Durability and Imaging

The series introduces an under-water shooting mode, supported by IP66, IP68, and IP69K ratings for water and dust resistance. The rear camera system on both phones consists of a 50-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel super-wide-angle lens. The Pro Max includes a 32-megapixel front-facing camera, compared to the 16-megapixel sensor on the standard Pro. The Pro Max also features a photochromic rear panel that adjusts its tint based on sunlight exposure.
