Xiaomi and Vivo Launch High-Capacity Battery Smartphones in China

Xiaomi and Vivo have expanded their mobile device lineups in China by releasing handsets equipped with substantial battery capacities, highlighting a growing design divergence from Western smartphone manufacturers. Xiaomi has launched the Redmi K100 in China, which incorporates a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W fast charging support, according to Android Authority. The new model starts at a retail price of 3,499 yuan, translating to roughly $525, entering a mid-tier market segment where battery endurance increasingly serves as a primary selling attribute.
The introduction of the device follows broader adoption of silicon-carbon cell chemistry among domestic electronics manufacturers. The Redmi K100 joins existing high-capacity offerings such as the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max and the HONOR Win 2 series that also feature battery packs rated at 10,000mAh or above. In contrast, flagship devices from global rivals including Samsung and Google continue to feature smaller power cells generally ranging from 5,000mAh to 6,000mAh.
Technical Specifications and Display Hardware
Beyond its power system, the Redmi K100 operates on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite system-on-chip, supported by memory configurations reaching up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 flash storage. Visual output is managed by a 6.83-inch AMOLED display panel offering a resolution of 2,772 by 1,280 pixels, a 165Hz screen refresh rate, and a peak brightness rating of 3,500 nits. Optical components include a dual-camera module on the rear chassis consisting of a 50MP main sensor alongside an 8MP ultrawide camera, housed within an IP69K-rated enclosure offering Wi-Fi 7 wireless connectivity.
Simultaneously, Vivo introduced the iQOO Neo 12 aimed at mobile gaming enthusiasts seeking high performance at a more accessible cost than its premium flagship sibling, the iQOO 16, which carries a starting price of roughly $900. In domestic retail channels, the iQOO Neo 12 begins at CNY 4,399, equivalent to about $659, for a base edition featuring 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with top-tier configurations priced at CNY 6,499.
Gaming Optimizations and Thermal Engineering
The iQOO Neo 12 utilizes a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor combined with an 8,200 mm² vapor chamber cooling module and an active cooler designed to prevent thermal throttling during continuous gaming sessions. The device incorporates a proprietary Q3 esports chipset with native 185FPS execution supported across more than 50 gaming titles.
An 8.2K 3D Ice Dome vapor chamber plate claims a 15% thermal performance boost over the outgoing iQOO Neo11, according to FoneArena.
Its front panel features a 6.83-inch AMOLED screen delivering a 185Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness rating of 2,200 nits, and a 5,000Hz touch sampling rate matching the flagship touch controller found in the iQOO 16. Power is supplied by a 9,000mAh cell with 100W fast charging and bypass charging capabilities, complemented by IPX8 and IPX9 water-resistance certifications.
