Pine Labs Shares Rise After Mastercard Executes Rs 892 Crore Block Deal
Shares of fintech firm Pine Labs rose more than 2 percent in morning trade on September 22, 2026, following a block deal that saw approximately 4.3 percent of the company's equity change hands. The transaction, which involved 49.7 million shares, is widely attributed to Mastercard Asia Pacific, which held a 4.31 percent stake in the company as of June 30, 2026.
On its November 14, 2025 listing debut, Pine Labs opened at a 9.5% premium over its Rs 221 issue price and reached an all-time/52-week peak of Rs 283.70. Following its listing debut, Pine Labs shares endured a prolonged correction, falling to a 52-week low of Rs 134.75 on May 27, 2026 before staging a 27% rebound over the subsequent three months.
Transaction Details and Market Response
The block deal was executed at a floor price of Rs 179.50 per share, representing a 7.3 percent discount to the stock's previous closing price on the National Stock Exchange. Despite the significant discount, Pine Labs shares traded at Rs 198.66 in morning sessions, reflecting investor confidence in the company's underlying business model. Citigroup Global Markets India Private Limited served as the sole placement agent for the transaction, which is scheduled to settle on September 23.
This secondary sale marks a near-total exit for Mastercard from its investment in Pine Labs. The payments major first invested in the fintech firm in 2020 and had previously offloaded a portion of its holding during the company's initial public offering in November 2025.
Brokerage Outlook and Business Performance
The market activity follows recent positive sentiment from analysts. Motilal Oswal recently initiated coverage on Pine Labs with a Buy rating and a target price of Rs 250, suggesting an upside potential of 30 percent. The brokerage highlighted the company's diversified revenue streams, which include payment acceptance, affordability solutions, and merchant software.
Pine Labs operates through its Digital Infrastructure and Transaction Platform (DITP) and its Issuing and Acquiring Platform (IAP). Analysts project a revenue compound annual growth rate of approximately 24 percent through fiscal year 2028, driven by the continued scale-up of the IAP business and stable growth in its core DITP segment. For the April-June 2026 quarter, the company reported a net profit of Rs 19.6 crore, a fourfold increase from the Rs 4.8 crore recorded in the same period the previous year, supported by a 19.6 percent rise in operational revenue.
Pine Labs completed its IPO in November 2025 with an issue price set at the upper price band of Rs 221 per share, listing on the BSE and NSE on November 14, 2025. Issuing and Acquiring Platform is Pine Labs' faster-growing segment, contributing ~32% of total revenue.
