Pune Police File 5,053-Page Chargesheet in Lohagad Fort Murder Case

Pune Rural Police have filed a 5,053-page chargesheet before the Vadgaon Maval court, detailing an elaborate conspiracy behind the murder of 26-year-old realtor Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort. The investigation, which initially registered the incident as an accidental death, now identifies Agarwal's fiancée, Siya Goyal, her boyfriend Chetan Choudhary, and their associate Ritesh Hinge as the primary accused. Investigators allege the trio meticulously planned the killing, moving from initial discussions of physical assault to a final decision to commit murder.

The chargesheet outlines a digital trail that investigators say links the accused to the crime. According to police, the suspects conducted extensive research on how to avoid detection, including studying murder-related films, podcasts, and the 2025 Meghalaya honeymoon murder case involving Raja and Sonam Raghuvanshi. The accused also reportedly utilized ChatGPT to explore methods for evading police scrutiny. The investigation includes over 80 witness statements, thousands of call detail records, and WhatsApp chats between Goyal and Choudhary.

Police allege that the accused created a fake Instagram profile under the name Mahi to lure Agarwal to Lohagad Fort. The account, which used a photograph of an acquaintance, convinced Agarwal to visit the site on June 18 under the guise of a surprise birthday plan for Goyal. The chargesheet notes that the location was chosen after a recce of multiple sites, including Tiger Point, because the accused believed a fall at Lohagad Fort could be mistaken for an accident, citing a previous death at the location in March 2025.

The investigation into the murder, which occurred on July 18, 2026, transitioned from an accidental death report to a formal murder case following the discovery of evidence suggesting premeditation. The chargesheet, which includes technical analysis certificates and photographs, serves as the primary record for the upcoming trial. The three accused remain in custody as the case moves toward the next procedural stage in the Vadgaon Maval court.
