NBEMS Declares NEET-PG 2026 Results with General Cut-Off Set at 262 Marks

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) announced the results for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2026 on September 24, 2026. A total of 265,960 candidates appeared across the country for the examination cycle required for admission to postgraduate medical courses for the 2026-27 session.

For NEET-PG qualified individuals, the Medical Counselling Committee manages four All India Quota rounds. Additionally, examination rooms feature IT managers who can verify and unlock systems if connectivity loss locks a candidate machine.

The national medical board notes that exam timers stop during power outages and resume without any loss of time once power is restored. Meanwhile, Karnataka records the country's highest postgraduate medical seat count with 10,092 total positions.

The examination evaluated candidates across multiple medical disciplines, including Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Surgery (MS), Diplomate of National Board (DNB), Doctorate of National Board (DrNB) direct six-year courses, and postgraduate medical diploma programs. Candidates can access their raw scores and overall merit ranks directly through the official NBEMS portal.

The qualifying criteria for the 2026 examination establish distinct cut-offs across various reservation categories based on percentile benchmarks. For candidates in the General and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories, the minimum qualifying cut-off is established at the 50th percentile, translating to a score of 262 marks out of the total 720.

For General Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), the qualifying benchmark is set at the 45th percentile, requiring a score of 244 marks. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), including PwBD candidates within those groups, qualify at the 40th percentile with a cut-off score of 226 marks.

The testing process involved a primary nationwide administration conducted on August 30, 2026, which accommodated 263,544 aspirants. An additional re-examination took place on September 5, 2026, in Jaipur specifically for candidates affected by a localized power failure that disrupted testing at designated centres.

A total of 2,416 candidates participated in this supplementary session. Following the completion of both phases, board officials noted that faculty members from respective specialty areas reviewed every question across both papers and confirmed that none contained technical errors.

Individual scorecards detailing candidate performances will be made available for download on the NBEMS official web portal starting October 10, 2026. The board stated that these documents will remain accessible for retrieval for a fixed duration of six months from the date of issuance.
