Leaked Images Reveal Scrapped Tiny Tina and Brothers in Arms Projects
Work in progress images from two unannounced titles, a sequel to Tiny Tina's Wonderlands and a new entry in the Brothers in Arms series, have surfaced online. The assets were reportedly discovered in the professional portfolios of developers formerly employed by Lost Boys Interactive, the studio that previously collaborated on the original Wonderlands and Borderlands 4 before returning to independence.
Development Origins and Studio Context
Lost Boys Interactive served as a co-developer on the 2022 fantasy spinoff Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, a title Gearbox chief Randy Pitchford previously described as a major victory that established a new franchise. Following the commercial success of that release, industry expectations for a sequel were high. However, the newly surfaced assets suggest that the project may have faced significant hurdles, with reports indicating it underwent a soft reboot or was potentially shelved during the period surrounding the corporate separation between Gearbox and Lost Boys Interactive.
The leaked imagery for the Wonderlands sequel depicts a coastal environment featuring shipwrecks and pirate-themed undead enemies. One unfinished mission, titled Soul Survivor, appears to have involved a quest to gather energy from trapped souls at a location called Heroes' Rest. These assets include placeholder interface elements and reused weapon models, indicating the build was in an early stage of development.
Tactical Shooter Revival Attempts
Alongside the Borderlands spinoff, the leaked portfolio material includes evidence of a tactical Second World War first-person shooter connected to the Brothers in Arms franchise. The series has remained dormant since the 2008 release of Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway. While Pitchford has periodically suggested that a new entry was in development, no official announcement has materialized in the years since the cancellation of the ill-fated Furious 4 project.
The leaked images for the Brothers in Arms project show soldiers gathered around a campfire and dark, ruined environments. According to reports, the project began development in Unreal Engine 4 before transitioning to Unreal Engine 5. It remains unclear whether these projects were abandoned entirely as part of the corporate restructuring that saw Take-Two acquire Gearbox in 2024, or if they continue to exist in some form under different development teams. Gearbox has not provided further details on its post-Borderlands 4 roadmap.
