Kim Kaphwan Returns to Fatal Fury City of the Wolves in Season Pass 3

Tae Kwon Do master Kim Kaphwan has officially joined the roster of SNK's Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves as part of the fighting game's Season Pass 3. The veteran character's addition is accompanied by a newly released animated promotional trailer directed by famed animator Masami Obari and produced by Studio G-1 Neo.

The release brings together the multigenerational Taekwondo family within the game's mechanics, as Kim Kaphwan joins his sons Kim Dong Hwan and Kim Jae Hoon. Players can integrate the character across all available modes, including Arcade and Episodes of South Town, with voice acting provided by June Yoon in English and Kunihiro Kawamoto in Japanese.

The inclusion of Cristiano Ronaldo drew confusion and criticism across the fighting game community. Observers and critics noted that his appearance felt out of place, while others attributed his presence to the influence of the Saudi Arabian government over SNK's ownership.

The launch trailer, streamed by SNK, depicts Kim Dong Hwan and Kim Jae Hoon fighting off adversaries in Southtown before their father arrives to neutralize the threat. The narrative sequence concludes with the three family members celebrating with a fist bump. The production reunites Obari with the franchise, following his previous work directing animated trailers for the title, alongside character breakdown guides and background music previews.

Kim Kaphwan's arrival follows a sequence of character updates under Season Pass 3, which kicked off on July 23 with the addition of Rick Strowd. The roster continued to expand with Duck King on August 27, while subsequent updates are scheduled to introduce Manjiro Sano and Ken Ryuguji from the Tokyo Revengers anime in October, followed by Laocorn in November and a mystery combatant in December.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is currently playable on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation platforms. SNK also offers a digital bundle titled The Revenge edition, which combines the base game with content spanning the first three seasons. Additionally, the fighting title is scheduled for a digital release on the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22, 2026, followed by a physical cartridge distribution on January 21, 2027.

The development of a new Fatal Fury title was initially revealed during EVO 2022. SNK subsequently announced the official title and gameplay details at EVO 2023.
