Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Launches September 17 on Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo is set to release Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave on September 17, 2026, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. The title, which requires a 29.5GB download for the digital version, marks the latest entry in the long-running strategy RPG series. Players will navigate a narrative centered on the crumbling Dagdan Empire, which faces destruction at the hands of the demon god Balor. The game introduces a time-travel mechanic that allows players to return five years into the past to recruit four distinct heroes, whose stories can be progressed simultaneously.

Unlike previous entries in the series, such as Three Houses, Fortune's Weave allows players to switch between the four protagonists at any point, enabling a parallel progression of their individual storylines. These heroes include Kai, who seeks to save his father; Dietrich, a warrior searching for a worthy opponent; Theodora, a defender of her kingdom; and Lida, who is driven by a quest for vengeance. Their paths converge through the Heroic Games tournament held in the capital of the Dagdan Empire.

Combat remains turn-based and centers on a system of six weapon types, including swords, bows, and magic. Each weapon features modifiable stats balanced against durability loss. The game also introduces Blaze Arts, which are special attacks capable of delivering area damage or providing tactical utility like teleportation. Players can further develop their units through various activities in the overworld, such as training at the Arena Plaza, attending certification exams, and gaining blessings through temple volunteering.

Digital copies of the game will go live at midnight local time on September 17, 2026, in most regions. In the Americas, the release is synchronized with the Eastern Time zone, meaning players in later time zones will be able to access the game on the evening of September 16. Physical copies will be playable as soon as they are acquired. The game is priced at $79.99 for the physical edition, while the digital eShop version is listed at $69.99. Nintendo has noted that the 29.5GB file size is subject to change based on potential day one updates or future downloadable content.
