Bollywood actor Triptii Dimri has expanded her footprint beyond the silver screen, taking on dual roles as investor and co-creator at the direct-to-consumer cosmetic startup Peep Beauty. Her financial contribution forms part of the brand's newly closed pre-seed funding round of Rs 12 crores, which translates to $1.2 million in backing from institutional investors.
Founded by serial entrepreneur Aman Arora, Peep Beauty aims to upend traditional beauty categories by shifting the cultural conversation around coloured contact lenses. Rather than positioning ocular enhancements as medical devices or functional vision aids, the startup seeks to reframe them as everyday cosmetic essentials designed specifically for the unique characteristics of Indian consumers.
Pre-Seed Funding and Institutional Backing
The freshly secured Rs 12 crore pre-seed capital injection provides Peep Beauty with the financial foundation required to scale its operations across India's competitive beauty market. The funding round was led by Sadev Ventures, bringing significant institutional muscle to the young D2C enterprise.
Additional financial participation in the round came from iSeed, ISV, and TDV, alongside Dimri herself taking an equity stake. This blend of institutional venture capital and celebrity backing positions the brand to accelerate its product development pipeline and scale its digital infrastructure ahead of broader market expansion.
Creative Involvement Beyond Capital
Dimri's association with Peep Beauty is not limited to financial investment; the actor has been embedded in the company's development since its formative stages. According to corporate disclosures, she has actively participated in brand positioning, product discussions, and creative direction.
Company founder Aman Arora noted that Dimri's understanding of aesthetics and contemporary storytelling made her an integral co-creator in shaping the brand's identity. This collaborative approach ensures that product lines reflect nuanced artistic choices rather than purely commercial formulations.
Challenging Traditional Beauty Norms
The central thesis of Peep Beauty is to challenge the historical categorization of coloured contact lenses within India. For decades, tinted lenses have occupied a purely functional or medical niche, often associated strictly with vision correction or theatrical special effects.
By treating the eye as a primary canvas for self-expression, the brand is targeting Gen Z and millennial consumers who view makeup and personal styling as fluid artistic outlets. The initiative specifically centers on the diversity of Indian eyes, a demographic the founders argue has been underserved by global beauty narratives.
Digital Launch and Marketing Strategy
To mark its market entry, Peep Beauty unveiled its inaugural digital campaign film titled Made You Look. The visual showcase introduces the brand's core identity by framing the eyes as a dynamic medium for creativity and personal experimentation.
The startup operates on a digital-first distribution model, building its consumer community through its direct-to-consumer web platform while expanding into major online marketplaces and quick-commerce channels. Peep Beauty also plans to partner extensively with creators, professional makeup artists, and cultural voices.
Market Opportunity and Next Steps
Industry estimates place India's broader contact lens market between Rs 4,000 and 5,000 crores, with coloured contact lenses carving out an addressable segment valued at approximately Rs 800 to 900 crores. Peep Beauty intends to capture a share of this niche by establishing eye beauty as a standalone cosmetic category.
Following its domestic rollout, the company plans to take its specialized product proposition into international markets. Leadership will focus on executing its digital roadmap while scaling creator collaborations to build long-term consumer engagement.
