Shraddha Kapoor's Eetha Secures 90 Crore Rupee Domestic Distribution Deal with PVR Inox

Multiplex operator PVR Inox secured all-India theatrical distribution rights for the upcoming drama Eetha in a transaction valued at 90 crore rupees, Pinkvilla reported. The distribution agreement was negotiated on an advance basis ahead of the film's scheduled nationwide theatrical debut on December 4, 2026, Moneycontrol.com reported. The upcoming release marks Kapoor's return to cinemas following the box office run of horror-comedy Stree 2, Pinkvilla reported. Trade observers characterize the transaction as a big commercial deal for a women-centric cinematic production, Pinkvilla noted. The acquisition reflects distributor confidence following the launch of the promotional trailer, with exhibitors anticipating substantial commercial potential across urban and regional circuits.
Creative Collaboration and Maddock Films Partnership
Eetha marks the maiden creative partnership between lead actress Shraddha Kapoor and filmmaker Laxman Utekar, Pinkvilla reported. Both creative figures enter the collaboration following major commercial milestones, having each delivered 500-crore-grossing features with Stree 2 and Chhaava respectively, Pinkvilla noted. Produced jointly by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films and Karishma Sharma of Kathputli Creations, the narrative draws from the experiences of traditional folk performers, Adgully reported. At the trailer premiere, Utekar clarified that while the script honors folk traditions, the storyline integrates collective artistic journeys rather than profiling a single historical figure.
Producer Dinesh Vijan and Laxman Utekar previously collaborated on Luka Chuppi, Mimi, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke and Chhaava, according to Bollywood Hungama.
Tamasha Heritage, Choreography, and Ajay-Atul Score
The musical narrative explores the lives, cultural prominence, and socio-economic struggles of Maharashtra's traditional Tamasha and Lavani performers, Moneycontrol.com reported. Kapoor portrays the central character of Eetha Bai, embracing authentic regional attire and demanding choreography throughout the musical production, Adgully noted. The actress revealed during promotional interviews that the rigorous dance sequences resulted in a muscle tear sustained while filming intricate dance movements, Moneycontrol.com reported. The production features musical compositions arranged by renowned composer duo Ajay-Atul, whose soundtrack forms an integral artistic foundation for the period folk drama, Pinkvilla reported.
Ensemble Cast and Nationwide Theatrical Strategy
Alongside Kapoor, the ensemble cast features acclaimed performers including Randeep Hooda, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, and Marathi actor Siddharth Jadhav, Pinkvilla noted. Producer Dinesh Vijan observed that the authentic cultural backdrop and narrative emotional intensity made the project an immediate priority for the studio, Adgully reported. Industry analysts regard the production as a major winter box office contender capable of attracting broad family audiences across multiplexes and regional single screens. Eetha will arrive in cinemas across India on December 4, 2026, supported by comprehensive distribution across PVR Inox screens and independent theatrical circuits, Moneycontrol.com noted.
Eetha was earlier scheduled to release on August 28 before locking its revised December 4, 2026 theatrical release date, according to Bollywood Hungama.
