Director Rohit Shetty has officially confirmed the production of Golmaal 5, announcing a theatrical release date of January 8, 2027. The announcement, made on September 19, 2026, was accompanied by a motion poster featuring the franchise's core cast, including Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, and Kunal Kemmu. The upcoming film marks the return of Sharman Joshi to the series, who has not appeared in the franchise since the original 2006 installment, Golmaal: Fun Unlimited.

The decision to release the film in early January, rather than the franchise's traditional Diwali window, is driven by a calculated release strategy. Trade sources indicate that the makers opted for January 8 to capitalize on the post-holiday period following December blockbusters. A significant driver for this date is the strong performance history of Rohit Shetty's films in the Gujarat and Saurashtra circuits. The release is timed to align with the Makar Sankranti holiday period, which the production team expects will provide a substantial boost to the film's second-week performance in the region.

Golmaal 5 arrives nine years after the release of the fourth installment, Golmaal Again (2017). The production, which began in Ooty in April 2026, has reportedly completed its dialogue portions as of August. The film also marks the entry of Akshay Kumar into the franchise, with reports suggesting he may portray an antagonist.
