Ramayana Unveils Siya Ram Poster And AR Rahman Track On Ganesh Chaturthi

The makers of Director Nitesh Tiwari's multi-part cinematic adaptation of the epic Ramayana kicked off festival celebrations on Ganesh Chaturthi by unveiling a new promotional poster alongside its inaugural musical track. Released early Monday, the promotional asset features lead actors Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita seated together beneath a tree by a riverbank, with Rama gently placing a flower in Sita's hair in a quiet moment during their forest exile.
The visual release immediately preceded the premiere of the project's lead musical offering titled Jai Jai Ram. Composed by Academy Award winner AR Rahman with lyrics penned by Dr. Kumar Vishwas, the track features vocal performances by Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh. Producers intend for the orchestral score and devotional melodies to establish the foundational spiritual and emotional tone for the overarching cinematic narrative before the film hits international screens.

Star-Studded Ensemble And Character Roles

The ambitious cinematic project features a sprawling ensemble cast spanning multiple prominent film industries. Alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in the central lead roles, the production stars Kannada star Yash in the role of Ravana, whose face was teased beneath a heavy shawl in earlier teaser material. Veteran actor Arun Govil, celebrated for portraying Lord Rama in the classic 1980s Indian television series, steps into a pivotal paternal role as King Dasharatha.
Additional casting choices flesh out the epic's expansive roster of characters. Lara Dutta essays the role of Queen Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet Singh portrays Shurpanakha, and Vivek Oberoi appears as the demon prince Vidyutjihva. Ravie Dubey takes on the role of Lakshman, while Sunny Deol has been cast to portray Hanuman in the magnum opus, forming a multi-generational lineup recruited to handle the mythology.

Budget Scale And Production Economics

Producer Namit Malhotra detailed the financial scope of the production during recent industry discussions, confirming a combined budget of approximately Rs 4,000 crore, equivalent to roughly $500 million, to cover the two planned instalments. Reflecting on the timeline required to mount the project, Malhotra noted that development began six or seven years ago to achieve a visual standard intended for worldwide audiences.
Stating that the production aims for global reach without fiscal recklessness, Malhotra noted that the team pursued international scale while maintaining operational efficiency compared to major Hollywood blockbusters. The high-budget strategy relies heavily on advanced CGI and visual effects to render ancient mythic settings, establishing the production as one of the most expensive cinematic endeavors originating from the Indian film industry.

Global Theatrical Release Schedule

Director Nitesh Tiwari's cinematic retelling is structured as a two-part epic release. The first instalment, Ramayana Part One, is scheduled to launch internationally on November 6, 2026, followed two days later by its theatrical rollout across Indian cinemas on November 8, arriving ahead of the Diwali holiday period. Industry reports indicate that the inaugural film will conclude on a narrative cliffhanger.
The second chapter, Ramayana Part Two, is currently slated to arrive during Diwali 2027, continuing the chronological progression of the narrative arc through subsequent holiday windows. Producers have mapped out the distribution timeline to maximize theatrical attendance across both domestic and overseas markets as promotional rollouts accelerate.
