Hanuman Ansh and Mirzapur The Movie Dominate Box Office Amid Haiwaan Struggle

The Indian box office is currently defined by the contrasting performances of three major releases, with the spiritual drama Hanuman Ansh and the crime thriller Mirzapur The Movie maintaining strong momentum while the new release Haiwaan struggles to gain traction. Hanuman Ansh, directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, has crossed the Rs 250 crore mark in gross collections, reaching a worldwide total of Rs 268.05 crore by its 38th day. Meanwhile, the Excel Entertainment production Mirzapur The Movie is nearing the Rs 300 crore milestone, having accumulated a worldwide gross of Rs 266.04 crore within its first ten days of release.

Despite an initial challenge that saw its screen count drop to just 25 following the release of competing titles, Hanuman Ansh has staged a significant recovery. The film, which chronicles the life of the saint Neem Karoli Baba, recorded a strong sixth-week performance with Rs 22.50 crore nett in India. On its 38th day, the film saw 54% occupancy across 8,902 shows. Director Vishal Chaturvedi has attributed the film's resurgence to growing audience interest and a shift in screen allocation after other releases failed to meet expectations. The film, produced on a modest budget of Rs 1.75 crore, has now reached a domestic net collection of Rs 214.63 crore.

Mirzapur The Movie, an interquel set between the sixth and seventh episodes of the original series' first season, continues to draw significant crowds. On its second Sunday, the film earned Rs 13.25 crore nett in India, a marginal 1.9% decline from its Saturday figures. The film, which features Pankaj Tripathi as Akhandanand Kaleen Tripathi and Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, has reached a domestic net total of Rs 184.70 crore. Its expansion into the theatrical space has been bolstered by the inclusion of new characters, such as Ravi Kishan's Babban Babua, who serves as a primary antagonist in the film's narrative.

In contrast to the sustained success of the other two films, the Priyadarshan-directed Haiwaan has struggled to find an audience. The film, which reunites Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan after 17 years, earned an estimated Rs 1.85 crore on its third day, bringing its total India net collection to Rs 7.35 crore. With a reported production and marketing budget of Rs 130 crore, the film's performance has been described as falling flat, recording only 14% occupancy on its first Sunday. The film's opening figures are notably lower than previous projects featuring the lead actors, such as Akshay Kumar's 2007 release Bhool Bhulaiyaa.
