Danish Pandor Joins Aamir Khan in Ashutosh Gowariker's Lalkaara

Actor Danish Pandor, who gained wide prominence for his portrayal of Pakistani gangster Uzair Baloch in the Dhurandhar spy franchise, has been officially cast in director Ashutosh Gowariker’s upcoming period sports film Lalkaara. Playing the antagonist Uzair Baloch, Pandor garnered widespread industry recognition and critical attention. Although he had previously appeared in notable projects such as Netflix’s Sacred Games, the comedy-drama Double XL, and the historical feature Chhaava, his role in Dhurandhar marked a major commercial turning point in his acting career.

Industry reports indicate that Gowariker’s Lalkaara is among the primary major feature film contracts signed by Pandor following his performance in the Dhar-directed duology. Speaking at an event organized by the Editors Guild of India, filmmaker and actor Tigmanshu Dhulia reflected on contemporary commercial filmmaking, specifically citing the template-driven approach seen in high-grossing action features like Dhurandhar. Dhulia questioned whether simplified spy premises represent complete cinematic narratives.

Addressing the audience at the event, Dhulia remarked: "But if you ask about his story, you won't be able to tell the story of Dhurandhar. There is a man who is an undercover spy, he goes to Pakistan and creates a ruckus there. This is not a story." He attributed the trend toward repetitive cinematic templates to financial pressures, stating: "Stories are over in films. First of all, the storytellers are over and what they want to say is not allowed to be made. That story is not allowed to be told... They feel that this film will not work. There is only one kind of template. This is what happens when there is extreme capitalism."

With pre-production underway, Excel Entertainment and Rajkumar Hirani Films are finalizing technical crews and location scouting ahead of the November 2026 shoot.
