Maruti Suzuki Crosses 50,000 Electric Vehicle Exports Milestone

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has surpassed 50,000 cumulative electric vehicle exports to international markets since commencing outbound shipments in August 2025, according to reporting by Motoroids. Maruti Suzuki says it accounted for about 93% of India’s electric passenger-car exports in April–September 2026; that share refers to the six-month period, not to all exports since August 2025.
The export offensive is anchored by the Suzuki e Vitara, the automaker's first global battery electric vehicle model. Built exclusively at the enterprise's Hansalpur manufacturing complex in Gujarat, international commercial production commenced in August 2025 following a formal inauguration led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Regional Distribution and Export Dominance
The battery-powered SUV is currently exported to nearly 50 overseas countries, spanning major automotive markets such as Germany, the United Kingdom, Norway, Switzerland, and Japan. Europe is the largest destination region, according to the company. The supplied reports do not quantify the contribution of local incentives or charging networks to demand.
Japan ranks as Maruti Suzuki's second-largest export market by vehicle volume, according to the company.
Between April and September 2026, the automaker accounted for more than 50 percent of India's passenger vehicle exports across all vehicle categories. Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Hisashi Takeuchi stated that achieving the export milestone demonstrates India's manufacturing strength and growing ability to compete in overseas markets. Takeuchi linked the overseas deployment of the electric vehicle directly with national manufacturing initiatives aimed at global trade integration.
Manufacturing Investments and Production Roadmap
The company reports cumulative investment of ₹25,288.7 crore at Hansalpur, Gujarat, which manufactures its electric export model. In addition to handling dedicated electric vehicle assembly, the Hansalpur complex handled nearly half of the company's total overseas vehicle dispatches during fiscal year 2025-26.
Across internal combustion and electrified platforms, the automaker exports 16 models to nearly 120 countries worldwide. The company reported that it maintained the top position in India's electric vehicle exports in the 2025-26 financial year and sustained that leadership during the first half of fiscal 2026-27.
Maruti Suzuki says the e Vitara was developed for more than 100 potential markets, although shipments had reached nearly 50 countries at the reporting date. Furthermore, the Hansalpur manufacturing plant raised its operational production capacity to one million motor vehicles annually, marking the first Suzuki assembly site worldwide to attain that manufacturing volume at a single base.
