Honda Sets December Debut for Locally Built 0 Alpha Electric SUV

Honda Cars India has scheduled the debut of its production-ready 0 Alpha electric SUV for December 2, 2026. The upcoming vehicle represents the Japanese manufacturer's initial battery-electric entry into the domestic passenger vehicle market.
In May 2022, Honda Cars India launched the City e:HEV hybrid on May 4, 2022, featuring a 1.5-litre engine and 2 electric motors.
Industry reports and expert projections suggest the Honda 0 Alpha will feature a battery pack ranging between 60 kWh and 70 kWh, delivering a targeted driving range of over 400 km to 480 km on a single charge.
Following the December 2 debut, market rollout and customer deliveries for the Honda 0 Alpha EV are anticipated to commence in early 2027.
Testing procedures have been underway across various testing grounds since March 2026, following the initial prototype showcase at the Japan Mobility Show in October 2025. The exterior design preserves the boxy proportions seen on the concept model, featuring an elevated bonnet, squared wheel wells, and a vertical tailgate.
Domestic Production and Platform Layout
Assembly operations for the battery-electric crossover will take place at the automaker's manufacturing site in Tapukara, Rajasthan. Output from the facility is designated for both domestic buyers and overseas export markets.
The dedicated electric architecture supports a flat interior floor layout designed to maximize passenger legroom. Spy visual material indicates an interior configuration centered around a large central display screen accompanied by a separate digital instrument cluster and a multifunction steering wheel.
The 0 Series architecture is enhanced by its dedicated “Thin, Light, and Wise” EV platform, delivering a low-height design and advanced aerodynamics.
Segment Rivalry and Strategic Rollout
Upon market introduction, the electric utility vehicle will challenge established and upcoming models including the Tata Sierra EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and Maruti Suzuki eVitara. Commercial pricing details are anticipated to be published following the initial media unveiling.
The upcoming battery-powered model forms part of a broader corporate plan to release seven utility vehicles in the country by 2030. The upcoming launch follows closely behind the commercial introduction of the refreshed Elevate.
