Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited debuted an advanced electric vehicle battery technology capable of delivering a 1,000-kilometer range on a single charge alongside a six-minute full recharge capability, according to the official product debut announcement reported by EnergyNow.
An unnamed CATL official spokesperson stated during the product launch that the technology aims to eliminate range anxiety for long-distance commuters. The development follows the 2025 launch of CATL's Shenxing battery, which offered 400 kilometers of range in 10 minutes of charging.
Despite the performance milestones announced by the manufacturer, critical technical details remain undisclosed. The specific chemical composition of the battery and the required charging infrastructure specifications, including voltage and amperage parameters needed to achieve a six-minute charge, have not been publicly disclosed.
Global electric vehicle manufacturers currently sourcing components from CATL may need to redesign thermal management systems to accommodate the high-power input required for six-minute charging.
Independent battery researchers have noted that such rapid charging cycles may significantly accelerate thermal degradation of lithium-ion cells over long-term use.
