Chinese automotive conglomerate BYD pulled back the curtain on its flagship ultra-luxury electric sedan, the Yangwang Altior, during an international launch at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. Positioned as an electric competitor to the Rolls-Royce Ghost, the opulent four-door saloon carries an estimated retail price exceeding $300000 (around 2.08 million yuan). Measuring 5600 mm (5.6 meters) in length, 2030 mm in width, and 1590 mm in height with a substantial 3500 mm wheelbase, the Altior features rear-hinged coach doors opening to 90 degrees. The bespoke sedan is engineered on BYD's proprietary e4 vehicle platform, deploying four independently governed electric motors to control individual wheel torque. The advanced quad-motor powertrain enables specialized mechanical capabilities, including in-place tank turns and automated emergency water flotation in hazardous driving environments.

Exterior Styling and Ancient Cultural Motifs

The vehicle draws its western name Altior from the Latin term for higher, while carrying the domestic Chinese market designation Dingyao. Exterior proportions and front fascia contours take structural inspiration from the ancient Chinese ding bronze ceremonial vessel. The vehicle's front aesthetic showcases an intricate radiator grille composed of individually polished and placed elements inspired by high jewellery design. The launch edition presented in the United Arab Emirates displays an elegant two-tone champagne exterior paired with a contrasting black upper roof section. Aerodynamic bodywork accommodates 21-inch wheels and a front door opening angle of 80 degrees to facilitate dignified ingress for chauffeured passengers. On November 7, 2026, BYD conducted a 110-vehicle parade of Yangwang, Denza, and BYD models across Abu Dhabi from West Park to Emirates Palace to celebrate the Altior's global premiere, according to Verge Magazine. BYD initiated the global market launch of the Yangwang Altior in the UAE ahead of the domestic Chinese market, focusing early commercialization on the Middle East, according to DubiCars. The Yangwang Altior is equipped with roof-mounted LiDAR and rear-hinged coach doors, according to DubiCars.

Bespoke Cabin Architecture and Luxury Appointments

The four-seat interior layout features rear zero-gravity seats equipped with multi-point pneumatic massage functionality and one-touch reclining relaxation postures. Rear occupants benefit from generous executive accommodations, providing 1209 mm of maximum legroom alongside 354 mm of knee clearance. Premium interior craftsmanship integrates authentic yellow Hetian jade air vents, delicate Suzhou embroidery patterns, and solid metal tactile switchgear. Acoustic entertainment is delivered through a 39-speaker Dynaudio Platinum Evidence sound system featuring mechanized tweeters that rise and rotate upon system activation. The flagship interior displays a 24-karat gold brand emblem alongside premium full-grain semi-aniline leather upholstery throughout the passenger compartment.

Battery Performance and Autonomous Computing Silicon

Electrical propulsion draws energy from a second-generation Blade Battery pack delivering over 1000 km (more than 621 miles) of driving range under CLTC cycle testing. Active body stability is maintained via next-generation DiSus fully active suspension hardware that anticipates road surface irregularities in real time. The sedan serves as the premier production vehicle utilizing BYD's proprietary 4nm Xuanji A3 silicon processor running the God's Eye A driver-assistance platform. Commercial distribution will encompass an Executive grade alongside a bespoke Shanhe Dingyun edition restricted to an exclusive production run of 399 units. Distributed in the Middle East through regional partner Al-Futtaim, the Altior represents China's strategic entry into the top tier of international ultra-luxury motoring.
