According to Autocar India, bYD's luxury electric vehicle sub-brand, Denza, has officially confirmed its impending entry into the Indian market through social media channels featuring its blue-and-silver hourglass-shaped logo and an arriving soon notification. Originally established in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz Group before BYD assumed full ownership following Mercedes-Benz's exit in 2024, Denza is slated to operate above BYD's existing mass-market operations to target the domestic luxury vehicle segment priced above Rs 80 lakh.

According to Autocar India, Denza has confirmed its upcoming market entry via social media. Autocar India reported that the brand is preparing an initial lineup featuring the Z9 GT and D9.

The brand's initial Indian lineup is expected to comprise two primary models: the Z9 GT four-door shooting brake and the D9 luxury multi-purpose vehicle. The Z9 GT utilizes a 122.5 kWh battery pack paired with a three-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain generating a combined 1,156 horsepower. Denza claims an acceleration time from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.7 seconds, a top speed of 270 km/h, and a WLTP driving range of 600 kilometers. The model supports fast charging up to 1,500 kW, which the manufacturer states enables a 10 to 97 percent charge in nine minutes. Additional technical features include rear-wheel steering enabling crab-walk functionality and a 360-degree Compass Turn rotation capability. Cabin equipment features a triple-screen dashboard, exterior camera displays, Level 2+ ADAS, leather upholstery, and a 20-speaker Devialet audio system. Expected retail pricing ranges between Rs 1.2 crore and Rs 1.5 crore ex-showroom.

The second offering, the Denza D9 luxury MPV, is positioned to compete against established luxury haulers such as the MG M9 and Toyota Vellfire. The India-specification model is expected to feature a 103 kWh battery paired with a front-mounted electric motor delivering 313 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque, offering a claimed WLTP range of 520 kilometers and DC fast charging support up to 200 kW. The cabin adopts a 2+2+3 seating arrangement equipped with heated, ventilated, and massaging second-row captain's chairs, three-zone climate control, a Dynaudio sound system, and ambient lighting. Pricing is projected around Rs 90 lakh ex-showroom.

Distribution strategy involves establishing a dedicated retail network separate from BYD's current mass-market showrooms, while leveraging existing dealer groups for infrastructure. Landmark Group is designated to operate outlets in Mumbai, EVM in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, KUN in Chennai, Cargo Motors in Gujarat including Ahmedabad, and Passi Group's Krishna Automobiles across the National Capital Region and Chandigarh. While exact showroom opening dates and formal pricing remain unconfirmed by Denza, the brand rollout represents BYD's broader strategy to expand higher-margin electric vehicle offerings into international markets amidst intensifying domestic competition in China.
