Tiger Attacks Spark Panic and Livestock Losses in Eluru District

Forest officials in Andhra Pradesh have confirmed the presence of a tiger causing widespread panic across multiple villages in the Eluru district. The animal has launched repeated attacks on livestock, killing a calf in Pandugudem and two cows in Mangapathidevipeta. Farmers like Satyanarayana from Kandrikagudem have reported significant financial setbacks due to these sudden predatory incidents.

Authorities believe the big cat migrated from Telangana's Kavadigundla forest area through corridors connected to the Papikonda National Park. Earlier in the year, a sub-adult male tiger named Explorer was linked to numerous cattle kills across the region. Officials note that the animal's reliance on hunting livestock likely stems from an inability to hunt effectively in the wild.

Forest department teams from Wardha, Maharashtra, are attempting to tranquilize and trap the animal using drone cameras and CCTVs. Heavy rains have hampered ongoing efforts, forcing local authorities to issue strict safety advisories for residents and farmers. Officials urge villagers to keep their livestock secured indoors and avoid venturing out alone after dark.
