Kerala Police Arrest RSS Ideologue T.G. Mohandas and History-Sheeter Arjun Ayanki

Kerala Cyber Police have taken RSS ideologue and right-wing commentator T.G. Mohandas into custody following controversial remarks made during a protest at Jantar Mantar. The activist reportedly suggested that certain crimes would occur as a result of specific political and social demonstrations, leading to widespread outrage. A feminist alliance and several social groups had petitioned for his arrest, citing the derogatory and dangerous nature of his comments regarding women and rape. In a separate development, Kerala Police arrested 29-year-old history-sheeter Arjun Ayanki in Kannur. Ayanki was wanted for allegedly threatening police officers and posting defamatory content against the Chief Minister and Home Minister. Officials state that Ayanki has approximately 20 cases registered against him, ranging from robbery to gold smuggling. He had been evading capture by moving between multiple locations before being caught when he visited his hometown to consult a lawyer.

The legal process against Mohandas was initiated after leaders from the Students Federation of India (SFI) and the All India Students Federation (AISF) filed multiple complaints alleging his statements aimed to tarnish the image of student activists. Youth organizations across Kerala had staged protest marches to his residence in Kochi demanding immediate legal action. Meanwhile, the BJP has condemned the arrest of Mohandas, labeling it a discriminatory diversionary tactic to shift public focus away from local administrative lapses, flood relief operations, and coastal community protests. At the same time, the ruling CPI(M) has distanced itself from Ayanki, who was once a dedicated party worker before turning to criminal activities like gold smuggling.

ADGP P. Vijayan stated that challenging the police is equivalent to challenging society itself, signaling a zero-tolerance policy toward organized crime and social media-driven threats. These developments reflect a broader push by the Kerala Home Ministry to crack down on goons and political activists who use digital platforms to incite violence or intimidate public officials. Legal experts expect the case involving Mohandas to hinge on the specific interpretation of IT laws and free speech boundaries. Meanwhile, the state's political climate remains tense as more protests are planned by both supporting and opposing groups.
