Tamil Nadu Unveils Uzhavar AI Scheme to Modernize Agriculture

The Tamil Nadu government has unveiled the Uzhavar AI scheme as part of its Agriculture Budget for 2026-27, allocating two crore rupees to integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies for modernizing agricultural extension services. The initiative aims to provide real-time, data-driven advisories directly to farmers across the state via mobile devices throughout the entire crop cycle.

To enhance accessibility for rural cultivators, the scheme will introduce voice-first agriculture services, enabling farmers to access knowledge-based advisories, real-time market intelligence, and government welfare scheme details through voice queries on their mobile phones. Comprehensive technical advisories will cover localized weather forecasts, soil health management, and pest outbreak alerts, building upon the state's earlier digital interventions like the Uzhavar mobile application.
