Sukekulan Toll Rates Revised for NH-66 Link Road to Mopa

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has implemented a sharp revision of toll charges at the Sukekulan toll plaza on the NH-66 link road connecting to Mopa airport. These new rates, which went into effect on Monday, August 10, 2026, will remain applicable until March 31, 2027. For standard light motor vehicles like cars and vans, the single-trip toll has risen to ₹45, while a return journey within 24 hours now costs ₹70, a significant increase from the previous single-trip rate of ₹19.70.

The revised structure introduces distinct tiers for various vehicle classes. While the standard passenger vehicles face higher costs, the authority has made adjustments for specific taxi operators. North Goa-registered taxis will now pay a reduced fee of ₹25 per trip, down from the previous ₹32.50. Other commercial rates include ₹75 for mini-buses, ₹160 for two-axle trucks, and up to ₹305 for oversized vehicles with seven or more axles. Local residents can access a monthly pass for ₹360, representing a minor increase from the previous ₹350 fee.

The toll hikes have met with persistent local opposition, particularly from taxi operators, farmers, and residential groups who have argued against the burden of the increased costs. Prior to the implementation, these stakeholders had threatened protests, including the potential for dropping passengers at the toll plaza itself rather than continuing the journey to the Mopa airport terminal. The NHAI continues to defend the fee structure as necessary for the maintenance and management of the vital road link, despite the ongoing friction between the authority and the local transport community.
