Sony LIV Unveils Scam 2010: Hansal Mehta to Helm Sahara Story

Sony LIV and Applause Entertainment have officially commenced production on Scam 2010, the third installment of the critically acclaimed franchise. National Award-winning director Hansal Mehta returns to lead the series, which explores the life of the late Sahara Group founder, Subrata Roy. Actor Siddharth Bodke has been cast in the lead role, portraying Roy’s ascent from managing small savings schemes to building a sprawling financial empire. The series is based on Tamal Bandyopadhyay’s book, Sahara: The Untold Story, and is produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment.

This new season follows the massive success of Scam 1992 and Scam 2003, continuing the anthology’s focus on high-stakes financial narratives in modern Indian history. Siddharth Bodke described his character as layered and complex, focusing on the ambition and eventual legal scrutiny that defined Roy’s career. Subrata Roy, who passed away in 2023, faced intense investigations from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). Hansal Mehta emphasized that the story examines the arrogance that often follows influence and the collapse of a business built on belief.
