Skyroot Aerospace Successfully Tests Vikram-1 Orbital Rocket

Skyroot Aerospace has successfully tested its Vikram-1 orbital rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, marking a transformative moment for India's private space industry. The three-stage, 22-metre rocket successfully deployed customer payloads into a 450km low-Earth orbit. This achievement establishes India as one of the few nations worldwide to possess orbital launch capability powered by private enterprise. Founded in 2018, Skyroot Aerospace represents the new wave of Indian space startups leveraging the government's policy liberalisation to scale rapidly. Vikram-1, which follows the company's 2022 suborbital Vikram-S mission, possesses the capacity to carry payloads of up to 350kg.
