Secunderabad Station Theft: Habitual Offender Arrested With Gold

Law enforcement officials arrested 27-year-old Limba Rathod at Secunderabad Railway Station on Friday, July 31, 2026. A joint operation by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) apprehended the suspect on Platform 4. Authorities recovered 63 grams of melted gold and various ornaments valued at approximately ₹9.45 lakh. The suspect, a native of Yadgir district in Karnataka, was identified as a habitual property offender with multiple prior criminal involvements at the station.

Police investigations revealed that Rathod committed these thefts to sustain his alcohol addiction and fund his online cricket betting activities. After his arrest, he confessed to his involvement in nine distinct theft cases linked to the railway premises. His capture marks a significant breakthrough for railway security in Telangana, as officials had been tracking a series of similar incidents affecting passengers and station facilities over the past several months.

The Inspector General of Police, K. Ramesh Naidu, praised the joint task force for their vigilance and successful recovery of the stolen assets. This arrest is expected to provide some relief to frequent rail travelers in the region who have faced rising incidents of petty crime. Authorities remain on high alert to prevent future thefts, with increased patrols planned for platforms during peak commuting hours throughout the Secunderabad station area.
