P.S. Santhakumar Takes Charge as Sabarimala Executive Officer

P.S. Santhakumar has officially assumed the role of Executive Officer for the Sabarimala Temple, effective July 16, 2026. This appointment covers the 2026-2027 administrative term, following a directive from the Kerala High Court to improve the efficiency and integrity of temple management. Santhakumar, previously the Director of Cultural Affairs, succeeds O.G. Biju after a review process regarding the temple's administrative leadership.

The transition follows scrutiny from the Kerala High Court, which raised concerns regarding the retention of previous officials in key temple posts. The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) submitted an application to replace O.G. Biju to comply with court directives. A vetting process conducted by the board’s Vigilance and Security Wing confirmed no adverse findings against Santhakumar, ensuring he meets the required standards for the sensitive administrative position.

The TDB and its Audit Wing verified that Santhakumar holds no outstanding financial liabilities, reinforcing his eligibility for the post. His appointment comes as the temple administration prepares for the upcoming pilgrimage season, aiming to ensure smoother operational management. The move represents a strategic effort by the state's temple board to address judicial concerns and maintain administrative stability during peak pilgrimage months.
