Prajwal Revanna Loses VIP Jail Privileges Over Mobile Use

Former Member of Parliament Prajwal Revanna has lost his VIP cell privileges at the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. During a surprise inspection, jail authorities discovered a mobile phone and a pen drive in his possession. Reports indicate the device had active internet access, which was allegedly used to access social media platforms like Instagram and streaming services including Netflix and Amazon Prime. The phone was found in a sealed packet, and officials are currently investigating the stored data and contact lists.

Following the discovery, prison officials immediately revoked the special amenities Revanna had been enjoying. He has been shifted from the VIP block to a general prison cell where he will live under the same conditions as other inmates. DCP Narayana confirmed that the mobile device is being processed to identify who the former MP was communicating with while in custody. This move follows strict instructions from the Karnataka state government to ensure no inmate receives preferential treatment regardless of their political background.

Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge stated that the law applies equally to everyone and denied any targeting of the former MP. Kharge emphasized that Revanna is a convict and must follow prison rules like any other individual. This development complicates Revanna's ongoing legal battles as the recovery of a mobile phone constitutes a serious breach of prison security protocols. Authorities are likely to file a new case against him for the possession of prohibited items inside a correctional facility.
