Porter Deploys 10,000th Electric Truck, Targets 3 Lakh Fleet by 2030

Porter, the digital goods transportation platform, has officially flagged off its 10,000th electric truck in Delhi. This event, attended by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, underscores the company's commitment to sustainable urban logistics. The deployment is part of a broader strategy to transition away from internal combustion engines, aligning with national initiatives such as PM Gati Shakti and the National Logistics Policy to reduce the carbon footprint of India's supply chain.

The company currently operates over 50,000 electric vehicles monthly and has set an aggressive target to scale its fleet to 3 lakh vehicles by 2030. This expansion is designed to enhance asset utilization and minimize empty runs, which are significant inefficiencies in the logistics sector. By optimizing routes and vehicle deployment, Porter aims to contribute to a more efficient and environmentally friendly transportation network across the country.

The shift toward electric mobility is already yielding financial benefits, with the company reporting savings of over ₹1,000 crore in fuel imports. These savings highlight the economic viability of transitioning to electric fleets, even at scale. As Porter continues to integrate more electric trucks into its operations, the focus remains on reducing emissions and improving the overall efficiency of goods movement, which is essential for supporting India's growing e-commerce and logistics demands.
