PM Modi To Inaugurate Three Major Healthcare Facilities At PGIMER Chandigarh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to dedicate three significant healthcare facilities at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh on Friday, July 17, 2026. These projects represent a substantial investment of approximately Rs 1,200 crore, aimed at bolstering the tertiary care infrastructure and expanding specialized medical services for the population of northern India.

The new additions include the Advanced Mother and Child Centre, constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 505 crore, and the Advanced Neurosciences Centre, which required an investment of approximately Rs 440 crore. Additionally, a new 150-bed Critical Care Block, costing approximately Rs 244 crore, will be inaugurated to enhance the institute's capacity to handle emergency and intensive care cases, ensuring that patients have access to state-of-the-art medical technology.

These facilities are designed to address the growing demand for high-quality healthcare in the region. By integrating advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities, PGIMER aims to reduce the burden on existing infrastructure and provide comprehensive care for complex medical conditions. This development marks a major step in the government's ongoing efforts to strengthen the public health network and improve accessibility to specialized treatment for citizens across the northern states.
