PM Modi Inaugurates Major Healthcare Facilities At PGIMER

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated three major healthcare infrastructure projects at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) on July 17, 2026. The projects, representing an investment of approximately ₹1,200 crore, include the Advanced Mother and Child Centre, the Advanced Neurosciences Centre, and a new Critical Care Block.

These facilities are designed to significantly strengthen tertiary care services in the region. The Advanced Mother and Child Centre will focus on high-risk pregnancies and pediatric care, while the Advanced Neurosciences Centre will provide specialized diagnosis and treatment for complex neurological conditions. The Critical Care Block is intended to expand capacity for intensive monitoring and life-saving interventions.

The development of these centers is part of a broader national initiative to enhance clinical and research capabilities. The Critical Care Block, in particular, was conceived to bolster the healthcare system's resilience following the lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that the institute is better equipped to handle future health emergencies and provide comprehensive care to a larger patient population.
